Godfather game is the bomb! July 18, 2010 Fatima M. Pascale It's a cool role playing mobster game, that gives you an objective you have to complete.
Not Just a GTA Clone November 30, 2009 J. Hartshorne (Hagerstown, MD USA) As much as this game does copy some things from Grand Theft Auto, it doesn't. One minute you'll feel like you're playing GTA in the 50s, and the next you're playing a COMPLETELY different game. And the Wii controls certainly make it more enjoyable.
It does share things with other sandbox games that involve stealing cars and shooting people, but it has a nature all its own. There's safehouses to own, rackets to buy out, shopkeepers to threaten/beat up in order to get them to pay you every week, etc. It holds the essence of the Godfather in it very well, that's for sure.
And like I said, the Wii controls are superb. In fact, they're one of the things that make the game so good. From strangling someone to shooting just by aiming the Wiimote, it makes the game seem more interactive and (most importantly) fun.
A great game that lives up to an even greater series.
everything you could want in a game August 14, 2009 chill1908 i realize that this game is 2 years old and i am just now buying it, but i can say this is probably one of the best games on the wii. if you enjoy gta, action games, or shooters, then this is the perfect game to play. for those of you who have played mafia wars online, this is essentially mafia wars realized. you get to create a character and work your way up in the crime world.
it is so awesome how the cut scenes and gameplay are incorporated. the graphics have been criticized; however, i found the graphics to be quite nice and realistic. the new york scenery is very nice and the characters look as they would in the movies. the controls are great and intuitive. ea does a great job of showing control tips throughout the game to help you know what to do. it is also great to be able to beat-up, grab, shake, etc people by doing the motions just like you would in real life. the shooting is very easy and rewarding.
you also get to drive in this game; however, driving doesn't seem to be my strong suite as i had to replay these missions several times. :(
the only negative comments i have are: 1)the font for the words on the screen could've been bigger. unless you are sitting fairly close to the screen, it is hard to read all of the good information that is being presented to you. 2)the camera angles are difficult to manage at times, not allowing you to clearly see everything going on around you 3)sometimes while shooting, your target goes off the screen and you have to readjust.
again, this is an extremely enjoyable game for adults. it incorporates strategy, role-playing, negotiation, shooting, driving, and fighting. what's not to love?
Awesome game but not for kids May 21, 2009 Marni L. Lange I play this game ALL OF THE TIME! It's my favorite Wii game and I can't wait for a new one to come out!
Mmm wiimote at its best April 4, 2009 Al 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Godfather: Blackhand Edition would only be so-so if it weren't for the interactivity that the wiimote brings to violence in this game. There's nothing like swinging back and forth to beat someone senseless with a baseball bat, or actually having to grasp and shake the remote as you strangle someone. I also love pointing at the screen to shoot. I've not had so much fun in a long time. The wiimote makes this game addictive.
Setting aside the awesomeness of the wiimote, the graphics are mediocre but not terrible. The game play is entertaining but gets somewhat tedious towards the end of the game. Overall if you're paying less than $25 for the game it is totally worth it.
