Alternator Technology Safely Delivers Electricity to Your Appliances One of the most innovative features of the TG32P12 is its ETQ Clean Sine Alternator Technology that ensures low total harmonic distortion (THD). Complete bait and switch DO NOT BUY! July 22, 2010 dulley
I bought this generator to power a pop up camper that had an A/C unit.
I was told that I needed at least a 2500 watt generator to power it along with lights and other little power draws, so this generator looked perfect.
What they dont tell you is that the 4000 watt supply they advertise is split between the power outlets so that the breakers will only take about 1350 watts before triggering and powering down. A camper has a single 240 plug that brings all the power to the camper from a single source...this means that even though the ad and box, and EVERY piece of literature that tells you about the generator says it can easily handle 3250 watts with a surge up to 4000 is a flat out lie.
If you have a bunch of different things plugged in and they are all small it might work for you, but this flat out deception is unacceptable, and this generator, and the company that makes it should be boycott for such blatant dishonesty.
I am still trying to get Amazon to let me return it ( I bought it 3 months ago and just found all this out today) so I will have plenty to say about amazon customer service as well, depending on how they decide to handle the situation.
*EDIT: I spoke with Amazon today, and not only did they agree to refund my money, they told me that I could go ahead and just keep the generator since it was non returnable under normal circumstances. I just want to say that all of my complaints above are about the product itself, and the manufacturer.. NOT AMAZON! they dealt with this far better than I could possibly have hoped for.
Best generator for the money July 12, 2010 David Roethler Put oil in it and assembled the wheels. Started on the third crank. Looking forward to using it this rennaisance season.
review of etq 4000 watt generator May 25, 2010 Allen J. Ward I received this generator in a week or so after ordering from Amazon. Unlike some others, I did not have any issues with the physical integrity of the unit. I did of course have worries about the quality control issues after reading many of the reviews. Assembly was very quick and it fired up after about 10 pulls. I have not run it for more than 20 minutes at a time yet, but I connected a couple of loads to it and everything worked as advertised. I will give it 5 starts once I know it is dependable. Maybe I am just lucky that it came in one piece and worked out of the box.

Bought this generator last dec for camping, started and ran for 2 minutes and then put away, when i tried it again all it would do is miss, and blow white smoke, i called eastern tool twice and was put on hold for about 10 minutes each time with no one coming back to me, when i drained the oil from the crankcase it was full of gas, terrible generator, save your money
ETQ TG32P12: Nearly Great May 10, 2010 Larry Stivers (TX) I considered titling this review "The Toyota of Generators."
It arrived promptly in good apparent condition with all parts and even a cute little set of tools. I read the assembly instructions and immediately deviated from them by inverting the carton so that the generator emerged lying on its back (on the Styrofoam packing). This allowed me to attach the wheels and bumpers far more easily, leaving only the folding handle to attach after I righted the unit.
I added oil and gas, flipped the petcock to ON and closed the choke. It started immediately and purred away contentedly after the choke was opened.
So, why "Toyota?" After a few minutes I reached for the switch to shut it off. To my surprise, the switch was already in the OFF position. Turning it on and off had no effect on the engine. Shutting off the fuel flow did finally stop it. A cursory inspection revealed but a single wire (yellow/green) connected to the switch. The wiring diagram shows both a yellow/green and a yellow wire connected here. Further investigation showed that the actual wiring color scheme was quite different from the diagram in the manual.
The next logical step is a call to ETQ.
